Multi-extension data types

Users may need to store different data in a single file, for example images of an object taken with different filters or obtained with various facilities. Data could be grouped using container structures which can hold datasets, e.g., images or tables with a specified extension type. User-defined metadata objects should be attached to individual datasets describing the nature of the data as in FITS headers or HDF attributes.
