This page covers user installation paths for the current public release, v0.9.1.
Requirements:
- Android 8.0 or newer.
- Bluetooth Low Energy support.
- Permission to install an APK if you are installing outside an app store.
Install options:
- Join the Android beta from the project site: https://dasblueyeddevil.github.io/Project-Phoenix-MP/#beta-signup
- Download
ProjectPhoenix-v0.9.1.apkfrom the v0.9.1 GitHub release.
If Android blocks the APK, allow installation from the app that opened the file:
- Open the downloaded APK.
- Tap Settings if Android asks for permission.
- Enable Allow from this source for your browser or file manager.
- Return to the APK and tap Install.
Android permissions:
- Nearby devices / Bluetooth: required to scan for and connect to the trainer.
- Location on Android 11 and older: required by Android for BLE scanning. Project Phoenix does not use this for location tracking.
- Health Connect permissions: optional, only needed if you enable Health Connect from Integrations.
Updates:
- Install the newer APK over the existing app. Your app data should remain in place.
- Back up your data before major updates or if you are switching devices.
Requirements:
- iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 14.0 or newer.
- Bluetooth Low Energy support.
Recommended install:
- Install TestFlight from the App Store.
- Join the Project Phoenix beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/TFw1m89R
- Install the app from TestFlight.
Advanced sideloading:
- Download
ProjectPhoenix-v0.9.1.ipafrom the v0.9.1 GitHub release. - Install with AltStore, Xcode, or Apple Developer tooling.
- Trust the developer profile if iOS asks.
Sideloaded apps may need periodic refresh depending on your Apple account and tooling. TestFlight is the easier path for normal users.
iOS permissions:
- Bluetooth: required to scan for and connect to the trainer.
- Apple Health: optional, only needed if you enable Apple Health from Integrations.
- Put the phone near the trainer.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled.
- Power cycle the trainer if it does not appear.
- Open Diagnostics-and-Troubleshooting if the connection flow stalls or disconnects.
