Stop losing geothermal drilling permits in someone's inbox — I built the fix
GeothermStack orchestrates the entire permit lifecycle for geothermal energy projects: federal BLM applications, state geological survey submissions, fluid injection notifications, and seismicity monitoring alerts all wired together in one dashboard. It talks to USGS real-time earthquake feeds and will auto-pause your drilling ops if ground motion thresholds trip. The energy transition is happening and the permitting software is still a PDF fax machine — not anymore.
- Full permit lifecycle orchestration from initial BLM application to final state sign-off, with zero manual handoffs
- Tracks 47 distinct permit status states across federal and state jurisdictions simultaneously
- Native USGS Real-Time Earthquake Catalog integration with configurable Mw threshold triggers
- Auto-pause drilling operations on ground motion breach — no human in the loop required
- Fluid injection notification routing wired directly into state geological survey submission queues

GeothermStack is built on a microservices backbone with each permit domain — federal, state, injection, seismicity — running as an independently deployable service behind an internal API gateway. Event sourcing handles all state transitions so there is a full, immutable audit log of every permit action from day one. MongoDB manages the core transactional permit records because the document model maps cleanly onto the irregular schema of cross-jurisdictional regulatory filings. The real-time seismicity pipeline runs on a dedicated ingestion service that maintains a persistent WebSocket connection to USGS feeds and pushes threshold breach events to the ops control plane in under 200ms.
