A malicious GOSUMDB can serve arbitrary module content that bypasses the Go module proxy's transparency log, allowing supply‑chain attacks that can introduce hidden backdoors or malware into your build. Upgrading to golang.org/x/mod >= v0.40.0 eliminates the flawed GOSUMDB handling and restores proper verification of module checksums.
