Self-PR on fork to trigger the full CI matrix for upstream PR
temporalio#1550 (which is gated by "first-time contributor
needs maintainer approval" on the upstream repo).
Do not merge. This branch is what we want upstream to take; merging
it into the fork's main would put rebased-1249 history directly on top
of fork main and serve no purpose.
