+Agentic AI tools are creating a new workload nobody's ready for: knowledge workers creating their own applications. Salespeople, analysts, HR teams. Not "real" programmers - regular  employees using Claude or Cowork to build small internal apps to replace Excel-and-PowerPoint driven business "processes".
+
+For example: BBVA reports 4,000+ active employee-built GPTs, ABN AMRO has retired 700 internal apps and is replacing them with this new shape, and Air France/KLM is saving over 200,000 hours a year on bot-driven internal automation. This is spreading fast!
+
+These new apps still need everything the old ones did - auth, audit, secure supply chain, access to enterprise data, somewhere to actually run and scale. IT can't say no, or they'll be left out of the loop in a new shadow IT wave.
+
+This talk goes over what's actually happening: the new app patterns I'm seeing emerge across banks, automakers, and airlines, the platform-engineering work nobody planned for, and what the early movers have figured out about running it all.

+Feature flags are one of the most useful tools in a modern DevOps toolkit: progressive rollouts, A/B tests, and safer deployments. They also accumulate quietly, until a codebase is a maze of stale conditionals nobody dares delete, every incident investigation detours through dead branches, and every new engineer’s first week is spent asking “is this flag still a thing?”

+This talk is about treating flag debt as a first-class cleanup project: auditing a large flag inventory, classifying every flag as active, stale, dead, or zombie, and systematically removing the dead weight while the system stays live and under load, without regressions. I will share the practical approach I used in a live, multi-repository system: cross-referencing a flag-management tool’s API with organization-wide code search to understand which flags were still referenced and where. This addresses a practical, publicly documented gap where some tools’ built-in code references work at repository level and do not scale cleanly across an organization with many repositories.

+I have worked in software for more than 20 years, moving between development, deployment, technical leadership and platform work. Whatever the role, I have usually stayed close to both the code and the way it reaches production. CI/CD, infrastructure and running software in production were never separate from development for me; they were simply part of the job. Today I mainly work on backend and platform systems. What interests me most about DevOps is the practical side: reliable delivery, understandable systems and keeping long-lived software safe to change.
