Known incompatibilities with other Plugins

After installing and activating Ultimate Multisite, you might run into issues due to unaddressed incompatibilities with other plugins.

We are actively working to reduce this list with each and every new release, but if a plugin is listed here, you might need to deactivate it in order to have a fully functional Ultimate Multisite Network.

Here is a list of them and what you should do in these cases:

Some WPMU DEV plugins Some of the plugins no longer maintained by WPMU DEV are known to cause the Ultimate Multisite registration flow to halt on the last step (the user isn't able to create an account). Here's a list of the plugins that cause those issues:

  • Signup Language: Ultimate Multisite has an add-on that offers the same functionality, called Ultimate Multisite: Language Switcher.

  • Set Blog Description on Blog Creation: This is built into Ultimate Multisite, so there's no need for an extra plugin.

  • New Blog Templates: This is built into Ultimate Multisite, so there's no need for an extra plugin.

  • Set Password on Multisite Blog Creation: This is built into Ultimate Multisite, so there's no need for an extra plugin.

  • Signup TOS: This is built into Ultimate Multisite, so there's no need for an extra plugin.

  • Anti-Splog: Although less powerful, this is also built into Ultimate Multisite.

Note : All other WPMU Dev plugins can be used normally alongside Ultimate Multisite. Examples include Smush , Forminator , Defender, etc.

AnsPress – Question and Answer AnsPress registers an AJAX dispatcher on the WordPress init hook that intercepts requests and calls die() after processing. This conflicts with Ultimate Multisite's Light Ajax system (which also fires on init) and causes a fatal error when selecting a product to add to a membership. As of Ultimate Multisite 2.4.3, a compatibility fix is included that automatically removes AnsPress's conflicting hook during Ultimate Multisite AJAX requests. No manual action is required — both plugins can be used together.
