Principal Software Engineer at IBM and Red Hat for the past ten years, with nearly 30 years of IT experience spanning a wide range of proprietary and open-source projects. Prior to IBM and Red Hat, I worked as an Oracle DBA and led CDC implementations across Oracle and SAP ERP systems, ultimately shaping my focus on database internals and data streaming. These experiences have given me extensive knowledge of various database vendors, including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
Debezium (Lead Engineer)
I am one of the lead engineers on Debezium, an open-source change data capture (CDC) platform that transforms your database's transaction logs into events, that can be published to Kafka, EventHubs, Google PubSub, and other messaging brokers.
CDC is one of the most efficient ways to react to and propagate data changes, particularly across microservice boundaries, and Debezium is at the forefront of making that approachable at scale.
If you are interested in CDC or want to discuss Debezium you can find me on Zulip or the Google mailing list.
Quarkus (Contributor & Extension Maintainer)
I contribute to Quarkus, a Kubernetes-native Java framework for GraalVM and HotSpot that brings together the best-of-breed libraries in the Java ecosystem. Within the Quarkus community, I co-maintain the Debezium Quarkus Extensions, which brings native CDC and Outbox pattern functionality to Quarkus applications.
Hibernate (Active Contributor)
I am an active contributor to Hibernate, an Object/Relational Mapping framework for Java persistence. Before shifting my focus to CDC and Debezium, I was heavily involved in the Hibernate 4, 5, and 6 major release milestones, while also contributing to Hibernate Envers, an audit-tracking subsystem for Hibernate entities.
Godot (Open-Source Contributor)
In my spare time, I enjoy contributing to Godot, an open-source C++ game engine. I work primarily on the Godot CPP project, which provides C++ bindings for writing Godot plug-ins and tools. It's a great opportunity to keep my C/C++ skills sharp and to work with build systems like CMake and SCons.
If any of my work interests you, I'd love to connect. Feel free to follow along, give a project a ⭐, or reach out directly!
