Right now this stops the scrolling in this particular instance. @JoeGermuska, you've got a better sense of how all the components fit together — would it make sense to make this a slightly more abstract process so that other components can also prevent scrolling in their parent |

There might be a few performance issues that I should take a look at (or, it might just be that my computer's power is super low and I have over fifty tabs open at the moment) but this works in Chrome and Firefox.
