Here is a skeleton for the GSoC 2026 introductory blog post. @MDAnalysis/gsoc-mentors should please confirm that they are happy with the formatting for the skeleton.
Contributors will be asked to fill in the details, and can look at previous project announcement posts (e.g., https://github.com/MDAnalysis/MDAnalysis.github.io/blob/master/_posts/2025-05-23-gsoc-students.md) for inspiration. It is optional to add a picture. If anyone is uncomfortable with this, we can include an avatar or simply not have a photo at all.
I have dated this post for May 25th so that it is merged by the end of the community bonding period at the latest, but would suggest a deadline shortly after new contributors have their initial meetings with their mentors.
Once accepted contributors/projects are announced by Google, I will share this PR with our contributors so that they can get started.
