A Guide to Navigating the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Degree from the Classroom to a Global Career.
This repository contains the source material for "The Ultimate EEE Career Roadmap," a comprehensive guide created for and by the students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The goal of this project is to provide a clear, actionable path for EEE and CPE students to build practical, industry-relevant skills and successfully launch their careers.
This is a living document, and this repository serves as the central hub for its evolution.
This project was born from a pressing need many of us feel: a significant gap between our theoretical academic curriculum and the practical skills required to land internships and full-time roles in the global tech industry. This guide is our attempt to bridge that gap, cut through the academic noise, and provide a focused, project-based framework for building a powerful engineering portfolio, independent of CGPA.
The full backstory and vision for this project can be found in the preface of the document itself.
The roadmap is divided into two main parts:
- Part I: The Actionable Career Guide: A "top-down" view of 17 different career paths, complete with job descriptions, required skills, high-impact portfolio projects, target companies, and salary expectations.
- Part II: The Foundational Field Guide: A "bottom-up" academic reference for over 30 foundational EEE subjects, providing recommended textbooks, online resources, and skill-building projects for each.
This is an open-source project, and contributions of all sizes are highly encouraged! The goal is to make this a living document that is continuously improved by the community it serves.
The best way to contribute is to:
- Fork this repository.
- Create a new branch for your feature or fix (
git checkout -b feature/MyAwesomeContribution). - Make your changes to the relevant Markdown files.
- Commit your changes (
git commit -m 'feat: Add new resources for Control Systems'). - Push to your branch (
git push origin feature/MyAwesomeContribution). - Open a Pull Request with a clear description of the changes you've made.
- Improving the Field Guides (Part II):
- Found a better YouTube playlist for a course? Suggest it!
- Know a classic textbook that's missing? Add it.
- Have a great idea for a Level 1-4 project that helps build a core skill? Describe it.
- Enhancing the Career Paths (Part I):
- Think of a high-impact "Level 5" interdisciplinary project? Propose it.
- Know of other key companies that hire for a specific role? Add them to the list.
- Have insight into a career path that could be improved? Share it.
- Improving the Document Itself:
- Spot a typo, a grammatical error, or a broken link? Fix it!
- Have an idea for better formatting or a clearer layout? Show us.
- And Every Other Means:
- Share the guide with your classmates and juniors.
- Provide feedback by opening an "Issue" on GitHub.
- Help answer questions from other contributors.
Every contribution, no matter how small, helps make this resource better for everyone.
