revert: undo erroneous #161 merge into main#170

PR #161 was merged into main by mistake (its base was main, not the intended dev). Because that PR's branch was based on a stale main, the merge pulled in ~76 files of unrelated old commits. This restores main's tree to b6fc684 (the state immediately before the merge). The release-drafter target_commitish fix from #161 was applied to dev separately in #169.
