[Enhancement] Add compatibility to PMDG aircraft (737&777) to OVHD Panel #12

Description

@skylarkning

Summary

Many users have requested the ability to use the Wingflex A320 OVHD Panel with PMDG aircraft, especially the PMDG 737 and PMDG 777.

Although the OVHD Panel is designed around the Airbus A320 overhead layout, some users would still like to use the physical switches and controls as a general-purpose overhead/control panel when flying Boeing aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Requested Enhancement

Add compatibility support for PMDG aircraft, including:

  • PMDG 737
  • PMDG 777

This could include mapping OVHD Panel switches and inputs to relevant PMDG aircraft functions where possible.

Reason / User Demand

Multiple users have mentioned that they would like to use their existing A320 OVHD Panel when flying PMDG aircraft. Adding PMDG compatibility would increase the flexibility of the product and make the OVHD Panel more useful across different aircraft types.

Suggested Implementation

Investigate whether PMDG-specific SDK events, custom controls, LVARs, HVARs, or other available interfaces can be used to map OVHD Panel inputs to PMDG aircraft systems.

Possible approach:

  1. Identify available PMDG 737 and 777 control events.
  2. Create a compatibility mapping layer inside Wingflex Bridge.
  3. Allow users to select a PMDG compatibility profile.
  4. Map available OVHD switches to equivalent or similar PMDG aircraft functions.
  5. Clearly document any controls that cannot be mapped due to aircraft system differences.

Expected Result

Users should be able to select a PMDG 737 or PMDG 777 profile in Wingflex Bridge and use the A320 OVHD Panel to control supported PMDG aircraft functions.

Notes

This does not need to be a perfect one-to-one overhead layout match. Even partial compatibility would be useful for users who want to reuse the OVHD Panel across more aircraft.
