• Input Sanitization: All user inputs should be sanitized to prevent injection attacks, like SQL injection or Cross-Site Scripting (XSS).
• Output Encoding: When displaying user-generated content, make sure it's correctly encoded to prevent potential XSS attacks.
• User Authentication and Authorization: Implement an authentication mechanisms (like 2FA) and follow the principle of least privilege when assigning roles and permissions. (This depends how you plan/design the roles & assignment of permission system)
• Password Security: Enforce password policies and store passwords securely using hashing algorithms
• Secure Communications: Use HTTPS for all communications to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks.
• Regular Updates: Regularly update your application's dependencies to include the latest security patches.
• Limit File Uploads: Inorder to allow file uploads, ensure they are scanned for malware or malicious content or abnormalities and stored securely. You should also limit uploads to certain types/sizes to prevent the execution of malicious code.
• Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) Protection: CSRF tokens to prevent CSRF attacks.
• Content Security Policy (CSP): Implement a robust CSP to help prevent various types of content injection attacks, including XSS.
• Database Security: Use secure configurations for your database, limit access, and regularly backup data.
• Rate Limiting: Implement rate limiting to prevent brute force attacks.
• Error Handling: Implement proper error handling so that no system information is leaked in error messages.
• Audit Logs: Maintain detailed logs of activities to detect and investigate suspicious activities. Careful when logging sensitive data as well
• Security Headers: Implement HTTP security headers like X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, and others to protect against various attacks.
• Data Encryption: Encrypt sensitive data both in storage and in transit.
• Security Testing: Regularly conduct security testing, including penetration testing, to identify and fix vulnerabilities.
