My name is Nabeel Siddiqui.
I am building a digital application focused on delivering Qur’an, duʿāʾ, and adhkār in a clean, user-friendly format using no-code/low-code tools (Lovable). I am not a developer or a scholar of Islam, which is why maintaining authenticity and using trusted sources is extremely important for this project.

Your purpose in using this API:
The purpose of using the API is to retrieve and display authenticated hadith references within my application, specifically for duʿāʾ and adhkār content. I want to ensure that every item in the app is clearly traceable to authentic hadith sources, instead of relying on unsourced or AI-generated content. The goal is to help users engage with authentic Islamic content in a simple and guided way.

This project is intended to remain free and accessible for the Muslim Ummah. I fully respect your platform’s data policies and the importance of maintaining the integrity of the content.

API rate limits:

• Maximum requests per second: 1–2 requests per second
• Maximum requests per day: 500–1000 requests per day

(This is an early-stage MVP, so usage will be low.)

Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
At this stage, programmatic API access would be more helpful as I am still building and testing the application. However, an offline dataset could be useful in the future for scaling.

What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
Arabic and English.

What programming language will your API client be in?
I am using a no-code/low-code platform (Lovable), so I am not directly writing backend code. I may need some guidance on how to best integrate and use the API correctly.

I would like to request access to your API. As I am not a developer, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on:

• the best way to use your API for this type of application
• any recommended practices for integrating hadith content correctly
• any usage guidelines or limitations I should be aware of

Please let me know the next steps to obtain an API key or if any further information is required.

Thank you for submitting your request. I'm just afraid your request might get stuck in the same backlog of requests that have been accumulating for years in this repository.

Therefore, we (unrelated to sunnah.com) have created and alternative api called sunnah.now. Where every brother can access hadith api completely for free without any (rate limit) restrictions, and it's also possible to download dumps for offline processsing.

Currently we have created an early access waitlist for the new hadith api, that you are more than welcome to join in sunnah.now.

During the early access you brother will be able to download offline dumps and make use of the api for free. This is exciting for our ummah I think, as this is the first free developer-first experience for our brothers like you.
