🚀 terminal-ui Launch Checklist

Everything you need to get terminal-ui live and ready for contributors.

✅ Pre-Launch (Complete)

  • Repository initialized
  • Next.js app created
  • Components built (Terminal, Command, Output, Spinner)
  • Landing page designed
  • Playground created
  • README written
  • CONTRIBUTING.md written
  • GOOD_FIRST_ISSUES.md written
  • License (MIT) added
  • Issue templates created
  • PR template created
  • Automation scripts ready
  • Security audit passed (no leaks)

📋 Launch Steps

1. Push to GitHub (5 min)

2. Create Labels (2 min)

3. Create Issues (1 min)

4. Configure Repository (3 min)

Go to: https://github.com/OpenKnots/terminal-ui/settings

  • ✅ Enable Issues
  • ✅ Enable Discussions
  • ✅ Disable Wiki
  • ✅ Enable branch protection on main:
    • Require PR reviews before merging
    • Require status checks to pass

5. Add Topics (1 min)

Go to: https://github.com/OpenKnots/terminal-ui

Click ⚙️ → Add topics:

  • terminal
  • cli
  • ui-components
  • react
  • nextjs
  • typescript
  • openclaw

6. Pin Issues (1 min)

Pin these 4 for visibility:

  1. Add Dracula color theme
  2. Create TerminalProgress component
  3. Add copy button to Terminal
  4. Fix mobile scrolling

7. Create Welcome Discussion (2 min)

Go to: https://github.com/OpenKnots/terminal-ui/discussions/new

8. Deploy to Vercel (5 min - Optional)

  1. Go to https://vercel.com/new
  2. Import OpenKnots/terminal-ui
  3. Framework: Next.js (auto-detected)
  4. Deploy
  5. Update README.md with live URL

9. Test Everything (5 min)

  • Visit live repo
  • Check Issues tab (12 issues)
  • Check Discussions tab
  • Open an issue (test template)
  • Clone and run locally
  • Test PR flow (fork → edit → PR)

10. Announce! (10 min)

  • Merge first 3-5 PRs (build momentum!)
  • Thank contributors publicly
  • Pin best example PRs
  • Update README with screenshots from community

Ongoing

  • Weekly check: are issues getting claimed?
  • Monthly: add 5 new good-first-issues
  • Quarterly: major version bump with new features
  • Use code-flow to review all PRs! 🎉

🎨 Integration with code-flow

  1. Open code-flow: https://claw.openknot.ai (or your local instance)
  2. Add filter: Labels → good-first-issue
  3. Add repo: OpenKnots/terminal-ui
  4. Watch PRs come in!
  5. Click to review → PR Detail Modal
  6. Approve/merge from GitHub
  7. Test the workflow end-to-end

Week 1 Goals:

  • 5+ stars
  • 3+ contributors
  • 5+ merged PRs

Month 1 Goals:

  • 25+ stars
  • 10+ contributors
  • 20+ merged PRs
  • All 4 color themes done
  • At least 1 new component

❓ Troubleshooting

No PRs coming in?

  • Share more widely (Twitter, Reddit, Discord)
  • Make sure issues are labeled good-first-issue
  • Pin the easiest issues
  • Post in OpenClaw community

Low quality PRs?

  • Add PR checklist to template (done!)
  • Request changes kindly
  • Link to contributing guide
  • Provide specific feedback

Too many PRs?

  • Close duplicates politely
  • Point to existing PRs
  • Create "claimed" label
  • Ask people to comment before starting
