Software Scientists are software engineers and so, they know that software can be quirky. Hence, they always fiddle and poke and prod software.
Data miners are software. Software scientists are software engineers. Software engineers know how to maintain and improve software, including data miners.
The key to understanding software is patterns- useful cliches in data structures.
