Windows that are maximized are left justified rather than centered if they do not take up the full screen

Native macOS when using Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen

I feel like I don't remember this being like this before. I am also not sure if this is intended behavior or not. I am using mpv for my example here but

Thanks for the detailed report. This is the way that Rectangle/Pro has always worked, and it's because it doesn't have access to the same window api that macOS has access to. Rectangle/Pro is not aware of maximum or minimum window dimensions until after it has attempted to resize a window. As a workaround, one option is to immediately center the window after placing it and determining its max/min dimensions. To enable this workaround in Rectangle Pro, you can execute this Terminal command and restart the app (but I don't recommend this until the next release):

defaults write com.knollsoft.Hookshot centerFixedDimensions -int 1

I just tested it out and currently it's a broken in that the y dimensions are not set properly. I just put in a patch to fix that specific issue that will go out in the next release.

One reason why I haven't made this the default behavior is because it can be annoying to see a window flicker to the initial incorrect position. Depending on how fast your Mac/display is, that maybe isn't an issue.

On top of that, one thing that I haven't implemented is a cache of max/min window sizes, which would alleviate the flicker but runs the risk of an outdated cache leading to incorrect window sizing/positioning. I might add this in the future if I can determine a nice way to clear cached values as necessary.

Thanks for the fast response! I just downloaded the update and executed the Terminal command and it does work. I do notice the window flicker with this sometimes but assuming unless I combine the native macOS command with Rectangle Pro there's not much more that can be done for now. I thought that Center Third and Maximize would do the same thing for a max height System Settings window but when I went to test this, the Center Third version is slightly farther to the right. Not sure if this is for a similar reason or not for that

In my testing, center third and maximize differ by a couple of pixels, likely due to rounding differences in the calculations. I take it your difference is larger than a couple of pixels?

Well I don't know how many pixels exactly it is but the shift is noticeable enough.
