Thanks for the feedback. I'm open to pull requests in Rectangle for adding this type of functionality in. There is an initial implementation in Rectangle Pro (paid) that handles similar functionality, and here's an old but still applicable guide for setting it up: rxhanson/RectanglePro-Community#289 |

Hi,
I wasn't sure where best to raise this, but figured this was the right place.
First off, Rectangle is genuinely excellent — far better than anything macOS offers out of the box. That said, I'd love to see it become a bit more flexible, and wanted to share some thoughts.
Right now, the app works around a fixed set of presets — centre two-thirds, first quarter, and so on. These are great, but they can feel a little rigid. It would be fantastic if users could define their own window sizes and zones, similar to how PowerToys FancyZones works on Windows.
Here's what I had in mind:
A layout editor — let users define custom window sizes and positions as named presets.
Multi-screen and multi-virtual-desktop profiles — this is probably the most important piece. Users should be able to define entirely separate layout configurations for each monitor and each virtual desktop, so their workspace adapts automatically depending on context.
Drag-to-snap with custom zones — once a layout is defined, users could drag a window and snap it directly into a custom zone, just like the built-in snapping but with their own dimensions. Bonus points for being able to export and import these configs.
I should mention — it's entirely possible some of this already exists in the current version and I've simply missed it. If so, I'd genuinely appreciate being pointed in the right direction!
That said, if multi-screen and virtual desktop profile support isn't there yet, I really do think it would be a game-changer. It would open up a lot of possibilities for people managing complex, multi-display workflows.
Thanks for considering it!
