We are looking to do kind of the same thing that you have been doing with Riemann. Some differences, not thinking about Riemann so much as an alerter, more as some plumbing to move metrics around.
We have Riemann configured as a consumer for Kafka but noticed some issues with it unexpectedly disconnecting. I noticed that your configuration describes not using the Kafka connector for Riemann but that you use kafka cat and nc. Did you find similar issues?
Also, do you still use Riemann? If not, would you be able to spend a couple of minutes describing what influenced your decision to move away? That could potentially save us a whole lot of time and would be really appreciated.
