Why is dangerouslyBypassScrollLock named as such since it is _not _dangerous?

I'm maintaining a project that uses reach dialog components to handle, well, modal dialogs. In order to stop the component from messing with the body style, we have to set the dangerouslyBypassScrollLock property to true. Which, of course, made our reviewers intrigued, asking us for clarification since the property is clearly hinted as dangerous.

So, why is it considered by the maintainers as dangerous? What kind of danger can such a property brings to an application?
