Please share ideas about what platform/software you want to be a piped plugin.

For example, I have an idea to make a plugin of sqldef, an idempotent schema management tool for various SQL software.
When we have the sqldef plugin, we can manage SQL schema with PipeCD according to GitOps manners.

My current ideas

• AWS CloudFormation / CDK

  • e.g. Use them for AWS infrastructure and use ECS/Lambda plugins for applications

• Terraform by Job (ECS Task / Lambda, etc.)

  • For Terraform resources that require a lot of memory, it's better to provision a dedicated environment instead of running on Piped itself.

• OpenTofu

• Wrapping existing tools (My Prototypes of them):

  • ecspresso (for ECS services)
  • ecschedule (for ECS scheduled tasks)
  • lambroll (for Lambda)

  • Success if a specified endpoint returns a specified result
    • e.g. Wait until server(s) starts and the health-check passes
  • How to implement?: a user writes a script of fetching states, and this plugin executes it in for-loop

Hello PipeCD team, thank you for this wonderful software!

As already noted, I’m interested in the ansible plugin.
Let’s consider the use case of applying ansible code - managed in GitHub as the SSoT (Single Source of Truth) - to an on-premises machine fleet.
The simplest CD setup would be to install a GitHub self-hosted runner on the machine that executes Ansible and implement the CD workflow via GitHub Actions.

However, there are security concerns: GitHub Actions can become a target for software supply-chain attacks, and long-lived secrets tend to accumulate (and if they accidentally leak into logs, they could grant powerful access to on-premises machines).

I don’t know of any current tools that fully address these concerns, but I believe that having a GitOps-style CD tool like PipeCD officially support an ansible plugin would be a very positive development from a security standpoint.

Our company using AWS AppConfig to manage YAML configuration for our system, and we are using aws cli (aws appconfig create-hosted-configuration-version) to deploy config.
So it would be useful to manage these file declaratively :D
