Web app: keep track of external changes to a (local) file

No, this issue is around the fact that if you drag in a slightly modified cellml model it resets the simulation environment. Ideally if a small change has been made, the simulation environment wouldn't be reset, like in legacy opencor when you make a change to the cellml code then switch to simulation view.

Maybe this can already be done?

Ok, I thought you meant something like:

• You go to https://opencor.ws/app;
• You drag and drop a CellML file called, say, mymodel.cellml on Web OpenCOR;
• Because it is a CellML file, Web OpenCOR is in standard mode;
• You configure the standard mode to your liking;
• You edit mymodel.cellml in, say, legacy OpenCOR; and
• You drag and drop the modified version of mymodel.cellml on Web OpenCOR.

However, if you do this, Web OpenCOR will just make the mymodel.cellml tab active (if it wasn't) when dragging and dropping the CellML file for the second time.

So, yes, I am still not clear what the context is. Some reproducible steps would be useful. :) Also, keep in mind that Web OpenCOR does NOT currently keep track external changes to a file. I know this can be done (see https://vscode.dev/ for instance), but such a feature has yet to be implemented in Web OpenCOR. I am thinking of doing that as part of issue #124.

Reproducible steps:

• You go to https://opencor.ws/app;
• You drag and drop a CellML2.0 file called, say, mymodel.cellml on Web OpenCOR;
• You move to interactive mode and set up a set of sliders and plots
• You edit mymodel.cellml in a text editor or in phlynx.
• You drag and drop the modified version of mymodel.cellml on Web OpenCOR.

Currently when this is done, the model being run doesn't change. It doesn't seem to notice the changes made to the file.

Note: What I said above that it "resets the simulation environment" was incorrect, I was trying with a file with a different name, sorry.

Yes, this is completely normal, at this stage at least. That's what I said above:

And, as also mentioned above, it looks like we should be able to track external changes to a file, but this has yet to be confirmed and implemented. So, keeping this feature request open.
