Request for bazel config

I'd like the ability to build uftrace from source using bazel.

Any reason for bazel? I think we have #1214 for meson but it's outdated.

In general, I'm ok with changing to another build tool as long as it covers the current workflows and provides clear syntax.

My company (~5000 people) has massive investment in bazel. I personally don't like bazel. I'm not asking to change your current workflow. I think it could co-exist with the existing build configuration. If I put up some bazel patches or change some build practices to make it easier to bazelify, would upstreaming them here be useful/acceptable or would you prefer I keep bazelification in a separate personal repo?

I'm not sure what's the value for maintaining two build systems at the same time. We can have them temporarily, but it can be easy for them to be out of sync. So I prefer a single source of truth.

I agree they can be out of sync. The problem is, every customer who is compiling from source is going to have to write their own build config. Do you think uftrace should provide those in this repo? or do you think we should keep them in a different repo? e.g. I can host them in my own repo and we can just link it from your repo's README.md

What customer are you saying? Distro packagers?

Anyway, I'd be happy if you can host bazel build configs. Then we can add a link in the README.

Well, I'm a customer. I'm trying to integrate uftrace into our workflows because I find it useful. Our company always compiles from source for C++ so we need to maintain bazel configs.

I'll prep a separate repo for bazel configs and go from there. May send pull requests to this.

I think we can support another secondary build system such as bazel or meson even if they become out of sync sometimes. If someone like @SurenNihalani helps them to be in sync then that would be helpful.

If we explicitly mention that those build systems are supported as experimental then I think it would be fine. If we sometimes break the build then someone will come and tell us.
