In the mumble permissions, I think it would be a nice if there was a permission that could deny users from sending private messages to each other, currently the closest thing is the Text message permission, which when denied blocks users from sending messages to the channel AND privately. But to someone who may want to allow users to send messages to the channel but not privately, this permission is all or nothing.

Im interested implementing this - I would implement it as a global permission or should this be a per channel permission (where users of that group can privately message users inside that channel when allowed)?

I think having a per-channel permission is the way to go. Global effects can always be achieved by setting this on the root channel and then inheriting that in all subchannels. This seems to cover all use-cases without any real additional complication in the implementation 🤔

The real implementation question on a per-channel basis is how we want to apply it.

I think we want it like this:

• Private Message ACL can be set on a per-channel basis
• Private Message ACL is evaluated when user A wants to private message user B
• User A has to be allowed to private message in the channel that user B is in, not necessarily in the channel that user A is in
