[Bug] Reactions are not displaying correctly in DM

I posted a reaction. It just appeared as a reaction. When I went back to the chat, it started showing the first letter of my avatar—the logic is broken.

Expected behavior:
When a user posts a reaction in a private chat, only their avatar is displayed, and nothing else changes. This may be related to the following issue:
