Extremely slow SetPolicies call with RDS for SQL Server SSRS and/or corporate domain-joined to cloud services like AWS

Hi All,

I can close this issue after creating it, but I am wondering if anyone here has experienced extreme slowness calling SetPolicies? I am migrating from EC2 SQL Server instance to an RDS for SQL Server w/ SSRS Option Group instance, and am stunned at how slow calling SetPolicies is. I have used AI to get ideas, as well as Amazon Support AI chat, but they basically all just say that the repeated hops to verify Active Directory information is why it is so slow. But... I am seeing 2-8 minute slowness. Some groups that take longer only have 5 members in them.

Apologies for posting this here, but there are very few places online where you can ask SSRS experts these days. Even on SQLServerCentral.com, the last forum post I could find was from 2019.
