The Linux Mint logo and "System Package" appears on third-party repositories and packages

The Linux Mint logo appears next to the words "System Package" on any package that's not a Flatpak. This gives the impression that Linux Mint is endorsing the package, or at the very least approving it for distribution - even on packages that only exist in third-party repositories. For example, after installing Vivaldi browser, it appears in Software Manager like this:

IMO you should only use the Linux Mint logo on packages that are actually distributed by Linux Mint. Perhaps use a different, more neutral icon for non-default repositories. A simple option is a generic download icon.

I'm also not quite sure what "System Package" is meant to mean, and whether that would apply to these packages.

It means a package installed by the system's package manager. It's less confusing than saying 'Debian Package' or 'Ubuntu Package' or 'Mint Package' for lay-persons.

We can change the icon, though - it was mainly due to the lack of non-generic-looking 'package' icons.

I still think the Linux Mint logo should not appear on packages that come from non-default sources. For example, after installing Signal using its installation instructions which set up an external repository, it appears in the Software Manager with a Mint logo:

It appears as though Mint has put its seal of approval on this package in some capacity, but that's not true. So software from external repositories should probably have a different icon.

The upstream packages (Debian and Ubuntu) are less of a concern because they are vetted by Mint to some extent.
