Can't find variable yml file from non .github folder in V 3.0.0

We have two repositories such as reusable workflow actions which is called workflow, and another repository is the end user which is
caller workflow.
We have used lindluni/actions-variable-groups@v3.0.0 latest 3.0.0 version in our workflows and facing below issue where variable.yml is unable to identify the path.

we have placed under ./variables/dev/variables.yml

Error: Fail to retrieve files ./variables/dev/kafka.yml: Not Found - https://docs.github.com/rest/repos/contents#get-repository-content

Could you please help in resolving this issue.

I am unable to recreate this problem, and the large enterprises I have that are using this, are not seeing an issue.

The scenario you've described is exactly what we use to test this. Are you in a private/internal repo, and if you are, are you passing a token in that has the necessary permissions needed to access the file.

Otherwise, could you please provide a minimal repo recreation (export the repo from the GitHub UI) including the workflow file you are using and a screenshot of the permissions on the token you are using. You can email them to me at lindluni@github.com and I can take a look if you prefer, rather than sharing them in this public repo.
