Multi-Bars With Zoom?

Is there a way to get the charts using the multi-bar functionality (https://leeoniya.github.io/uPlot/demos/multi-bars.html) to work with the standard ways of zooming? Right now the only one that appears to work with zooming is the non-justified version.

I'm also interested in having the standard cursor / tooltip abilities if possible.

This is a really great charting library, thank you for all your effort.

zooming in grouped bar charts is a really unusual requirement, so i don't intend to add this to the demos.

you can take a look at #862 and see if that works for you.

Thank you for the response, and that is a fair point on zoom-able grouped bars not being a common feature.

Am I correct in thinking that the Justified Bars (i.e. the first chart on the multi-bars demo, but is not a grouped bar chart) is not zoom-able? I'm actually mostly interested in being able to zoom in on a standard bar chart that has been justified (meaning the first and last bars haven't been halved like the second chart in the demo). Is that something that can be done?

what is on your x axis?

if it's time or another continuous numeric value, you might have more success with just growing the time range of the x scale a bit so the edge bars fit. then you will have all the regular zooming behavior without the complexity of the bar charts demo.

For my bar charts I am just using numeric indices.

Am I understanding you correctly in that I should add an extra point to my data on both sides to account for more room at the beginning and end? I did some testing with this and it seems like it creates a gap that is too large at the beginning and end of the chart (since it has the standard gap plus half of what another bar would be). The extra points X values are also visible in the legend when mousing over that portion of the chart.

you can customize the scales.x.range function so that the returned range is greater than the data range. you'll have to see what works in terms of how much to grow it, but it will be tricky. what if the user wants to zoom to a range in the middle of a group?
