Restructure navigation to match wireframe IA #60

@rdhyee

Description

@rdhyee

Context

Hana's wireframe proposes a cleaner navigation structure than the current site.

Current nav

Goals, People, Information Architecture (Overview, Requirements, Metadata Model, iSamples Vocabularies), Outputs (conference talk, publications, etc.), Github repositories, Tutorials (many sub-items)

Wireframe nav

  • Home
  • Interactive Explorer
  • How to Use ▾
  • Information Architecture* ▾
  • About ▾
  • Related Research/Resources ▾

Changes needed

  1. Update _quarto.yml sidebar/navbar
  2. Consolidate Goals + People into "About" page
  3. Split Outputs into "Published Research" and "Resources" (per Hana's note)
  4. Create "How to Use" section
  5. Keep Information Architecture but improve readability (Hana: "columns or accordion table")
  6. Remove or archive stale items

Hana's notes

  • "Requirements are a little muddy. Make table of contents more readable"
  • "Metadata model doesn't have a link back to other pages"
  • "Further divide vocabularies table? Hyperlinks make it harder to read"
  • "Divide Outputs into Published research and Resources"
