I didn't know where else to put this, so it might as well be here.
I am already tired of re-implementing the iRODS catalog provider in irods_demo for various test harnesses across different projects.
We should consider making a workflow for building a common image for use in testing. I can already see that this would be useful in PRC, ingest, irods4j, and others.
The images should support all 4.3 or 5.x releases.
Some things to consider...
- Does this increase or lighten the maintenance burden?
- Should we store images in a shared cache?
- Should we publish these images to Docker Hub or RENCI's image registry?
