Development Goals

Hi All, my name is Ray and I own a small agency that is trying to move away from WordPress. This CMS looks great, fast and easy to use. I mean no disrespect to the developer but like so many other open source project many just stop getting developed. I want to make the switch over on many of my client sites to this platform. What are the development intentions? Is it expected to continue? Is there enough of a user base to allow the developer to keep moving forward? Should I not even worry since the code is open source and I can fork if needed? BTW, I'm not opposed to making contributions to this project either.

Again, I'm trying to come across as rude, I'm trying to get a warm and fuzzy feeling so I can make a decision on migration. Thank you all.
