As discussed in the private repo in 2018 (yikes) (https://bitbucket.org/flucoma/fluid_decomposition/issues/11/nmf_client-random-number-generator-seed) it would be good to use better random with seeding in all our processes, if only to make cross-platform reproducible tests.
