lock screen detection

Original issue edited, as mentioning idle_threshold and my specific swaylock use case was confusing.

Basically it would be nice if dunst could detect that the session is locked (with ext-session-lock-v1 portal on wayland), so that notifications are paused automatically.

So I ended up with a simple script to pause dunst and lock, instead of swaylock -f:

(dunstctl set-paused true ; swaylock ; dunstctl set-paused false) &

And that seems to work as expected!

Maybe my feature request (dunst detecting when session is locked) is out of the scope of this project?

i am not too familiar with how swaylock works.
anyway, the idle_threshold is how much time has to pass between the last key/mouse event and the moment dunst is considered idle (the notifications will be delayed until more input arrives)

@bynect Yes sorry I actually shouldn't have mentioned idle_threshold as this is kind of unrelated (this was for one specific use case).

Right now without any custom script like the one I shared, dunst will still try to show notifications while locked (but they won't be visible, the lock screen is as intended preventing that), so the user probably won't see them as they might timeout while still locked.

This is not specific to swaylock, but will happen with any lockscreen, as far as I understand

FYI lock screen detection already works with some other programs, for example with KeepassXC.
Although I don't think it uses wayland portal? Here's their implementation: https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc/blob/develop/src/gui/osutils/nixutils/ScreenLockListenerDBus.cpp
