OCR does not work on Q670.

The OCR command works, but there's a problem where the PC freezes. The toolkit is the master branch as of today.

The issue still persists even after updating to CSME version 16.1.38.2676.
Has this been tested on CSME 16.1.X?

PC (AMT) Information

OCR Reset to WinRE

• It goes through WinRE, but PC freezes on WinRE screen (Keyboard/Mouse unusable)

OCR Reset to HTTPS

• PC freezes on POST screen (Keyboard/Mouse unusable)

Our tests so far have primarily been on NUC14 and NUC15 systems running AMT 18.x and over wired connection.

Could you clarify what you mean by “frozen”?

• Is the KVM viewer (from our Web UI) frozen, or is the actual host system itself unresponsive?
• Do the keyboard and mouse on the host system still work locally?

Thanks for sharing the snapshots --- just to confirm, are these from the KVM session integrated using our UI-Toolkit-Angular/React component?

At first glance, this seems more likely related to BIOS or AMT behavior rather than an issue with MPS or Console.

The actual host is frozen.
The current screen is HDMI output via PiKVM.
A physical keyboard doesn't work either.

Thank you for the clarification. Since the host itself is freezing and even a physical keyboard becomes unresponsive, this appears to be related to BIOS or AMT, rather than something originating from Console or MPS.

I received a fixed BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer, and the issue has been resolved.

Additionally, I have some more in-depth questions about the OCR feature in AMT.
Would it be better to ask them within the issue thread, or should I send them by email?

I’d like to use the OCR feature to boot into a specific MS BCD entry.

To do this, I set BCDOBJECT={guid} in OCR_EFI_BOOT_OPTIONAL_DATA and tried booting into WinRE, but it didn’t work.

I also set the path of bootmgfw.efi in OCR_EFI_FILE_DEVICE_PATH and OCR_EFI_DEVICE_PATH_LEN, along with OCR_EFI_BOOT_OPTIONAL_DATA, but it still didn’t work.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to directly execute a desired EFI path — for example, booting a specific EFI file from the ESP on the default disk with specific optional data.

Glad to hear the updated BIOS fixed the issue.

For the deeper OCR questions, I think it’s best to start an email thread with your Intel rep. The reason is that anything involving OCR_EFI_BOOT_OPTIONAL_DATA may also depend on BIOS support and behavior, so we may need to loop in a couple of other teams to confirm what’s supported and what isn’t.

I don’t want to give you the wrong guidance here since I don’t know whether what you’re asking is possible. Once you start the thread, feel free to include the details you shared above, and we can help route it to the right folks and follow up from there.
