<div>
Important to understand that there are "browser
app / website / webpage" that are run inside safari.
And "apps" that are installed on phone or laptop
</div>
<div>
To allow the most flexibility, lots of "apps" have <b>both</b> an app that is installed and a web
page that offers similar functonality.
</div>
<div>
i.e. Trickster oh-hell has an app that you use on your iphone, but also a website that Al uses on
his laptop.
( Al cannot install apple iphone applications on windows laptop )
</div>
<h1>Browser "websites"</h1>
<ul>
<li>
A browser is an app that is installed on phone ( such as Safari .. with the compass icon )
or on laptop ( such as Chrome .. with the green /red /yellow swirl icon )
</li>
<li>
The browser points to "websites" on the internet. Such as bbc website, or news websites.
<div>
A "link" usually shows with an underline and takes you to a webpage. Though a link could also be a picture or icon.
</div>
<div>This help page is a webpage, you are viewing it in Safari.
</div>
<div>Heres a link
<a href="./index.html">"back to index page"</a>
to the help index page. Click it to go back.
</div>
</li>
<li>
Or a website may be used booking holidays
<div>
<a href="https://www.stivesholidays.com/">.. a link to the website for StIves holidays</a>
</div>
</li>
<li>
Or a website for playing games .. Al plays contract whist ( trickster oh hell ) on his laptop via a browser,
because he does not
have a smart phone to play using the "app"
<div>
<a href="https://www.trickstercards.com/game/">.. al has a link ( or shortcut ) to the
contract whist page.</a>
</div>
</li>
<li>
Or playing games .. you play bridge on bridgebase.com
<div>
<a href="https://www.bridgebase.com">.. here is a link </a>to the website you use to play play
bridge which is "bridgebase.com"
</div>
</li>
<li>
Or youtube for videos
<div>
<a href="https://www.youtube.com">www.youtube.com</a> link to you tube
</div>
</li>
<li>
Heres an interesting one .. google streetview ... the whole world is captured on here. But its not real time, just photographed.
<div><a href="https://www.instantstreetview.com/@53.595112,-2.232479,341.53h,-1.67p,1z">millbank st</a></div>
Try and drag around it ... drag it or click on the arrows in the road to move around
<div><a href="https://www.instantstreetview.com/@50.213464,-5.47985,341.24h,-11.35p,1z">The wharf</a></div>
Try and drag around it ... drag it or click on the arrows in the road to move around
<div>This is one that is "live" .. a webcam showing NOW ... just need to click the "play" triangle</div>
<a href="https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/united-kingdom/england/st-ives/st-ives.html">St Ives webcam</a>
</li>
<li>
.. there are literally billions of web pages.
</li>
</ul>
<div></div>
<h1>Apps</h1>
The common apps you use currently are
<ul>
<li>WhatsApp</li>
<li>Safari</li>
<li>Zoom</li>
<li>Trickster Oh hell</li>
<li>Help - trick answer ... its not an app! It opens in the Safari app so its a webpage</li>
</ul>
<div>
Have put some more information summaries on these below.
</div>
<div>
These apps are also installed on your iphone and maybe you use them occasionally / accidentally
</div>
<ul>
<li>Calendar</li>
<li>Camera. Can use it take photos or videos, which will appear in the photos app</li>
<li>Photos. View any photos or videos you might take</li>
<li>Maps. Worth a looksey can zoom in out by pinching and drag around the whole world down to streets</li>
<li>AppStore. May need to use this to install other apps</li>
<li>Wallet</li>
<li>Settings. Careful in here :)</li>
<li>Clock</li>
<li>Weather</li>
<li>Calculator</li>
<li>Facebook. This shows facebook pages of "friends" who post information up</li>
<li>Facetime. You can use this to video or audio call someone who has an iphone. But we mostly use WhatsApp for this</li>
<li>Contacts</li>
<li>BBC News</li>
<li>News</li>
<li>Team Viewer. We used this so I can see your phone screen, but it kept dropping out. :(</li>
</ul>
<h2>
WhatsApp
</h2>
<div>Use this loads ?</div>
<div>For chats .. receiving and sending messages to individuals or groups</div>
<div>For calls ... either video or voice calls to individuals or groups ( though we tend to use zoom for groups chats )</div>
<div>The call can still be open "in background" whilst you do other things, like play cards or any other app</div>
<h2>
Safari
</h2>
<div>You use this app whilst "on the internet". Its the same as chrome</div>
<div>Browsing sites, playing bridge. All covered above in "webapps" section</div>
<h2>
Zoom
</h2>
<div>This is the blue icon with video camera. It might be on another desktop page needing a right drag to see it</div>
<div>We use zoom for group video or audit chats. So we can all see each other whilst we play games</div>
<div>The call can still be open "in background" whilst you do other things, like play cards or any other app</div>
<div>Whilst "in background" you wont see others and they wont see you. But still get audio so can chat and do other things on the phone</div>
<h2>
Trickster Oh hell
</h2>
<div>Contract whist card game. Well understood me thinks:)</div>
<h2>
EasyPoker
</h2>
<div>New game we will use to play poker.We will need to install it cos its an "app" but no rush.</div>
<div>Heres a link to a webpage with some poker reminders
<a href="https://www.pokerlistings.com/poker-rules-texas-holdem">Poker rules in brief (with a video to watch if scroll down )</a>
<div>Or you can always search for yourself in safari .. type your search in top address bar i.e. "poker rules"</div>
