brew install is ignoring --appdir Option

I hope, this is the correct place for reporting this issue.
I've globally set $HOMEBREW_CASK_OPTS to --appdir=~/Applications but this is being ignored by coder-desktop cask. It works for every other cask i've tried to install except coder-desktop.
The parameter is ignored and coder is trying to install to /Applications (what is not allowed on my business machine).

Hey, this is actually a macOS limitation, since Coder Desktop uses a System Network Extension. Were you to attempt to use the app, you'd see an error saying App containing System Extension to be activated must be in /Applications folder.

If that's the case, it seems likely you won't have permission on your machine to install said System Network Extension either :(

I'll try to get an exception for this case.

In the meanwhile it would be nice, if this parameter isn't silently ignored. I don't know if this is a feature request for the coder cask or for homebrew itself? Just a small notice like "Cask 'coder-dekstop' will be installed to /Applications because of needed System Extension. appdir-Parameter will be ignored' would be nice.
