That URL https://www.codenameone.com/StringEncoder/ had a useful JavaScript port of the code snippet you posted on the linked page:

I considered using PlayGround, but it doesn't work. Whenever I try to use your StringEncoder code, PlayGround freezes and maxes out the CPU. I then have to close the Firefox tab.
