Example request: A person with multiple roles

@vulnmaster : I'm trying to devise a working example meeting what you'd requested. How does this just-English description sound to you, before it gets (cross-)encoded?

The example should also include a Jones character too, in an otherwise-not-explored Investigator role. The second person is needed for ground-truth-negative for some queries.

Example setup

The person "Williams" has two roles pertaining to being a "Technician," at the time of a certain investigation.

• Within ExampleCo, "Job Title Level N+1" is a more senior position than "Job Title Level N."
• Working for ExampleCo, Williams has the organizational position "Technician Level 2," which is a specialization of a general "Technician" role (the class added in CASE Issue 184).
  • This technician role is defined externally-to-Williams by their company (in the same manner a person's role of being a student would be externally defined by their school).
  • Let's say Williams climbed the ranks through Technician Level 1 to 2, attaining the newer rank a month prior to the investigation.
  • ExampleCo's "Technician Level 1" is empowered to image disks.
• Working for ExampleCo, Williams also has the organizational position "Analyst Level 1."
• Within the investigation Williams is tasked as a technician, but not an analyst.
  • This technician role is defined externally-to-Williams by the investigation.
• In the role of technician-for-this-investigation, Williams performs the action of imaging a disk.
  • The disk was entered into the investigation's chain of custody by Jones.

Within the investigation Williams is tasked as a technician, but not an analyst.

• This technician role is defined externally-to-Williams by the investigation.

You can take that as an example, however imho it is not the investigation but the organisation that defines the roles that its employees can assume.

So I'd rather see the one organisation defining two roles that are then both tasked to Williams. Both roles can present distinct empowerments as you describe. One of the roles, e.g., Analyst Level 1, can be tasked to him only in the context of the particular investigation, which scopes his Analyst empowerment within that investigation only.
