[Question]: Merge with opencli-dev?

A friend and I had the exact same idea a few months ago! We even tried to grab the opencli.dev domain, but it was pointing nowhere at the time 😄

So far we have Rust and Go codegen, and a spec similar to this one, perhaps we could compare notes and merge the projects? 15 competing standards and all that

There's also https://opencli.org/ who I reached out to but have had no response so far.

opencli-dev's version is currently being used for:

• Storyden's sd CLI
• OPCUA-CLI (spec)
• Rad (spec)
• A ton of internal tooling at my company

I believe it would be beneficial to evolve this into a widely accepted standard, similar to OpenAPI.

Hi @Southclaws - I guess great minds think alike! I'm definitely interested in evolving this into a widely accepted standard. I've been iterating on the idea for about year and a half, but haven't really promoted it anywhere outside of a "ask HN what are you working on" post last year.

It looks like the linked projects are still relatively early stage so maybe spec changes wouldn't be too jarring. Let's compare notes on the schema proposals (I'm sure there's lots of overlap); I can go through your repo and put together a side-by-side comparison when I have some time. Maybe you can do the same and we iterate from there? You can also try the OpenCLI live editor I published to see how it compares to your vision of the spec.

When I started, opencli.org and the accompanying repo didn't exist but they've definitely got me beat in the SEO/promotion game. Would be great to have them in the discussion as well.
