Remote sampling support for buildin adot collector in AppRunner

Hi, currently apprunner supports buildin Adot collector running as sidecar.
However it doesn't support remote sampling 'Failed to connect to localhost/127.0.0.1:2000'

Since you own this project you and apprunner uses adot under the hood, please support this over there as well

Hi, can you recreate this issue in the ADOT Collector repo? We believe the issue lies there.

We took a quick look, their default configurations for the ADOT Collector in AppRunner does not contain the OTel Collector AWS Proxy Extension, which is needed for supporting Remote Sampling.

In the default config, they'll need to add something like:

extensions:
  awsproxy:
    endpoint: 0.0.0.0:2000    # or localhost?
    proxy_address: ""
    tls:
      insecure: false
      server_name_override: ""
    region: ""
    role_arn: ""
    aws_endpoint: ""
    local_mode: false
    service_name: "xray"

Then update the extensions list like:

extensions: [health_check, awsproxy]

Do you know if you are able to access & update the config of ADOT Collector in AppRunner? If possible you can add the above config to support Remote Sampling on port 2000.

No we cannot access that config, it comes under the hood when we enable tracing in AppRunner.
I will try to open an issue there
