tmux 3.2a crashes when copying in copy mode because this (old) tmux version is not compatible with the (new) ncurses version shipped in the image. See also the comment in this issue.

I found a workaround for this issue and wanted to share it here.
(Upgrading to tmux 3.6a using mise)

First, kill the existing server and uninstall the default package:

tmux kill-server
sudo dnf remove tmux

Then, install and set tmux 3.6a using mise:

# Check available versions
$ mise ls-remote tmux
3.6a

# Install and set global version
$ mise use -g tmux@3.6a
tmux@3.6a  extract tmux-3.6a-linux-x86_64.tar.gz  ✔
mise ~/.config/mise/config.toml tools: tmux@3.6a

# Verify version
$ tmux -V
tmux 3.6a 

I've tested this on my environment, and it's working stably now. While I used mise, any method to install tmux 3.6a (such as manual build or other version managers) should likely resolve this compatibility issue with ncurses.
