Why isn't the extension enabled on all websites by default?

I'm intrigued by the fact that you have to manually enable the extension on specific websites, instead of it just working for all websites out of the box. I ended up just having one pattern .* so that everything is enabled and I don't have to worry about it again.

Am I doing something wrong? Are there security/performance/etc. reasons why enabling everything by default is not a good idea?

I saw the wiki mention that this change was made in v.2, but it doesn't say why. It seems like a regression to me. I almost uninstalled because I thought it didn't work.

I second this, especially because I usually realize a site is blocking paste after I've already gotten to a blocked field on a page that i can't reload without having to go back a bunch of steps or re-authorize etc.

But .* works for now.

I am so happy that I found this extension and that it works on Firefox! (Only I hate the name.)

I am not clear if ".*" has any performance implications. I hope not, because I just set it!

I agree with @luke-powers , I don't know if a site is blocking paste until I am in the form. I may also only visit a given page once. (i.e., setting up a new account.) So adding a regex is overkill.

Another option would be to have the extension "read" the page and look for code that is blocking copy/paste. If found, then turn on the extension. This way it "just works".
