Issues as of Current Beta 5.0 beta13

There are a few issues that I found on the beta 11 - 13 for the Linux version, Windows version, and Mac version.

1. Currently there is no arm support for Linux versions
2. There is still an issue with toggle tags in text box for ASSA in Linux
   a. This shows up when opening a previously viewed subtitle from a fresh startup.
   b. This shows up when the application loads a previously viewed subtitle.
   c. The only way to get the assa settings is to have a subtitle that has a different format and change it to ASSA.
3. There are saving issues when using a personal server within Linux.
   a. This can be circumvented with the "save as" option, but that should not be necessary.
4. There are no drag and drop features implemented in Linux.
5. Windows has an issue with the sound tracking on the spectrogram wave.
   a. The tracking bar moves out of sync with the sound on the video.
   b. The older version had no such issue.
   c. Linux version is moving slow, but it is more in sync to the sound than the windows version at present.
6. In full screen, the subtitles do not show for the windows version.
   a. Linux version is working without issue.
7. The Mac version is broken as of the current build for subtitle recognition, video viewing, sound, spectrogram waves, and subtitle viewing.
   a. The Mac version is a Glorified text editor at this moment.[/+]
   b. The Generative AI functionality for recognizing subtitles cannot see the subtitles.[/+]
   c. The incorrect player is set for Mac. MPV instead of IINA or VLC[/+]
   d. All other features that I can see are working, but I cannot do anything with the current build.[/+]
   I. Unable to verify if the sound syncs without a proper player implemented.
8. ASSA Advanced effects overwriting current formatting tags.
   a. The Karaoke setting should add on a tag without the removing of the current tags.
   b. For the tags that need changed, change them , but leave the tags that do not need to be removed.
   c. There is not a way to change the speed, frequency, area, position, of the text for the effect to work efficiently.
   I. Glitch, Audio text Pulse, Karaoke, Bounce in, fade in/ fade out, and credits scroll
   d. No color options

There are 7 true issues, but implementing features for ASSA Advanced effects would help. I've looked at each one on what would work and what didn't work. For the most part the Mac version works fine if you can fix the player issue. It does have an issue with the ability to read subtitles from videos as it currently is. Windows just needs a bit more polish, but it is the the best beta version without too many bugs. It still needs fixes before the final release. Linux would be the best version if you fix the save issues and the drag and drop issue.

I am glad that this will be finally releasing to every OS platform after only being on windows for some time.

1. I do not have one of those - SE could be built for Linux arm too if people need that, but that would require some testing

4. That's a known Avalonia UI issue - hopefully fixed their next major version (v12)

i know nothing about Linux nor Mac. I can respond only for Windows. I'm not seeing the issues you mention. I have the current pointer set to stay stationary in the center of the waveform, & it does that. The graphic part of the waveform scrolls by in synch with the audio as far as I can tell. Oh. You said spectrogram. I've never messed with those. All I can say is waveform seems fine. With the video player in fullscreen, I am seeing subtitles correctly. I'm running with the controls undocked & the player on my second monitor, which happens to be my TV, so that may influence things. I can't address the rest of your issues. I don't use ASSA, Karaoke effects, any of your other things. I avoid using the mouse like the plague so I have no idea how any drag'n'drop functions work now. I haven't tried the Speech to Text feature in this release. But it worked OK for me in past releases so I'm not expecting any problems now.

I should probably add that I generally use VTT subtitles & they're working fine. Maybe the issue is particular to ASSA. Nik says he fixed something so maybe that's it.

2. This issue is in 13 as well.
3. The save function doesn't work on linux correctly, but the save as function works.
4. If you are using a Intel GPU, this has slight lag, but using the software rendering, it tends to be faster. On the 4.0.15 the cursor feels smoother. The Open-GL doesn't quite work at least for Intel GPU.

7. I found out how to get it working on my mac, but many of the steps are not listed on the website in a way that may cause issue. I've listed how it is best to be

1 Dependencies for Intel macs (install via MacPorts)

2 Install Xcode and Commandline Developer tools for Xcode
a. Commandline tools 16.4 for most Intel Macs
b. Commandline tools 26.4 or higher for Apple Silicon

3 ffmpeg
sudo port install ffmpeg

4 mpv
sudo port install mpv

5 In Terminal, run the following commands to remove macOS’s security quarantine flag and add adhoc code signature or the included .sh file by dragging it to the terminal:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Subtitle Edit.app"

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - "/Applications/Subtitle Edit.app"
