  • High-availability DHCP server setup
  • Monitoring and logging infrastructure
  • Security policies and procedures
  • Network documentation

Installation

  1. Choose the appropriate configuration
  2. Customize for your specific environment
  3. Configure network infrastructure
  4. Deploy DHCP servers with redundancy
  5. Configure monitoring and alerting
  6. Test failover and performance

Monitoring

  • Monitor DHCP server performance
  • Track lease utilization and trends
  • Monitor security events
  • Regular log analysis and reporting
  • Capacity planning and optimization

Security Considerations

  • Document security procedures

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  • Performance: Monitor server load and response times
  • Security: Check for unauthorized access attempts
  • Capacity: Monitor lease utilization and plan for growth
  • Failover: Test and verify failover procedures

Debug Commands

# Validate configuration
./simple-dhcpd -c config.yaml --validate

# Run with debug logging
./simple-dhcpd -c config.yaml --verbose --log-level DEBUG

# Monitor leases
tail -f /var/log/simple-dhcpd/simple-dhcpd.log | grep "lease"

# Check security events
tail -f /var/log/simple-dhcpd/simple-dhcpd.log | grep "security"
