Custom variable as a dependent variable inside query variable doesn't work

1. create a custom variable with a fixed set of values
2. create a query variable that uses the custom variable in the query
3. update the value of the custom variable
4. see the network tab to notice no new variable values are fetched for the query variable even though the custom variable is updated
