<p>The PhD was part of the <a href="https://lmcat.eu/">LMCat</a> HORIZON2020 project and centered around
the study of graphene synthesis using chemical vapour deposition on a liquid metal surface.
Our involvement from the theory side relied on both DFT <i>ab-initio</i> calculations and force-field

<p>Two months internship in the field of computational chemistry during which I carried out embedded
cluster calculations and quantum dynamics simulations of photodesorption on TiO<span
class="math inline"><em></em><sub>2</sub></span> surfaces. The focus of the study was on a systematic
exploration of the effects of cluster size and basis set size on the adsorption energy of small
molecules on rutile (110).</p>
<p>The Hartree-Fock calculations were performed using the MOLCAS software package.</p>

<p>One month internship in which the microfabrication and characterization of piezoresistive devices
(strain gauges) was carried out. I came in contact with clean room and microfabrication methods such as
spin-coating, photolithography, wet etching, reactive ion etching, and sputtering.</p>
<p>The internship was finalized with the presentation of a poster within the Bariloche Atomic Center.</p>

<p>Different suspensions of ZnO nanoparticles obtained by mechanical milling were characterized by means
of UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopies, dynamic light scattering, and X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, the
nanoparticles were functionalized with 3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane to try and improve their
colloidal stability.</p>
