Unsuable website on Librewolf

Hi,

when I open the wiki, I cannot scroll, not click on any link or otherwise interact with the website.
Sometimes, my browser warns me the website slows down my browser.

I'm using LibreWolf, a popular privacy-focused fork of Firefox.

Whoops, I didn't see this issue at all until now. I developed the website with Flutter and it's known to be pesky especially for websites. I'll try it on my setup. But iirc, it works on Firefox that comes shipped with Debian and Arch-based distros. Can you post your OS, hardware etc?

It'll also be helpful if you can try some other browsers on your setup. Because if it ends up being a Flutter bug specifically for LibreWolf, I'll have to report that upstream.

Firefox (arch extra repo) seems to work fine on a fresh new profile.

When WebGL is enabled in LibreWolf (arch AUR), the website becomes unresponsive. Upon deactivation of WebGL, the buttons and scrolling work. However, the browsing experience is very sluggish.

Apparently, the extension UBlock Origin is responsible. When turning it off in LibreWolf/turning it on in Firefox, the website starts working/stops working respectively.
Interestingly, if you turn off both WebGL AND UBlock, the website does not work. Only if both have been activated.

I tried LibreWolf and also noticed the lag. Specifically, toggling the flags for WebGL and Fingerprinting Resistance worked and I got no issues whatsoever after, with uBlock disabled and enabled. Set hardware acceleration to true from the preferences, and also set these flags in about:config and restart the browser:

• webgl.disabled = false
• webgl.force-enabled = true
• privacy.resistFingerprinting = false

Also, look for the permission icon in the URL Bar when accessing the website, I got 2 prompts to allow WebGL Context creation, and HTML5 access permission. Note that these toggles might actually make the security implementations "unsafe" by a bit, since I saw that LibreWolf is relatively hardened for privacy.

Exactly, that's why disabling these settings defeats the purpose to use Librewolf in the first place. Ideally, there would be a way to make it work without disabling everything, especially the fingerprinting...

This is again because of the "hardened" privacy that LibreWolf offers, limited WebGL capabilities by default. And I searched a bit online but couldn't find a "safe" way to make WebGL work without turning off the settings that I mentioned, and because the Wiki is actually operating using WebGL, you'll definitely experience performance issues. There might be a way to disable the flags just for the Wiki, or just open it on another device if you don't want to compromise with the security that LibreWolf provides.
