[BUG] Unable to SHIFT + Drag files to context [Fedora 42 / VsCode]

Problem (one or two sentences)

When wanting to add to context a file or multiple files from the folders pane or tabs, I cannot SHIFT + DRAG the said file(s) to the chat textbox like we used to.

Context (who is affected and when)

Running on Fedora 42 KDE Linux (RPM install) with roo code as vscode extension. Display manager: Wayland.

Reproduction steps

1. Press and drag a file (either tab or folders pane in vscode)
2. press and maintain shift while still pressed and in the dragging process
3. Try to drop on the chat box / area the said selected file(s)

Then you cannot see any drop icon / hint and you thus cannot drop the selection into context.

Expected result

The files are added to context

Actual result

Not possible to drop anything in chat area.

I've analyzed this issue and here's my proposed implementation plan:

Root Cause

The drag-and-drop functionality requires holding the Shift key during the drag-over event to allow dropping files into the chat text area. This check is in webview-ui/src/components/chat/ChatTextArea.tsx at the onDragOver handler:

On Wayland (used by Fedora 42 KDE Linux), modifier key states during drag-and-drop operations are often not properly propagated to web views. This is a known limitation of Wayland's drag-and-drop protocol and the Electron/Chromium implementation on Wayland.

Proposed Fix

Remove the Shift key requirement from the onDragOver handler in webview-ui/src/components/chat/ChatTextArea.tsx. This will allow users to drag and drop files/images directly without needing to hold the Shift key.

Changes:

1. Remove the e.shiftKey check from the onDragOver handler (lines 951-956)
2. Update the placeholder text that mentions Shift+drag since it will no longer be required

This approach:

• Fixes the issue for Wayland users
• Simplifies the UX for all users (drag-and-drop works naturally without requiring a modifier key)
• Aligns with standard drag-and-drop behavior in other applications

Note: There's already an existing but unmerged fix branch (fix/issue-6953-image-drag-drop) that implements this same solution for a similar issue (#6953).

Please mention @roomote in a comment saying that you approve this plan, and I'll proceed with the implementation.

Wayland + vscode = bug

You can switch to Xorg

well now wayland is default on fedora 42 KDE, xorg is on its way out in all distros pretty much, plus I have multiple screens with different DPI each ... so xorg is not an option.

Furthermore, the shift + drag and drop worked perfectly before and started not working only a few months ago. So it is definitly something that can work and it is currently a regression !
